LITTLE EATON WI MEMBERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
For many years Little Eaton Women's Institute have fundraised for their charity Safe & Sound Derby Project. On Birthday night our members had the honour and pleasure of having Nicola Dalby as our guest. During the course of the evening members donated items of toiletries to her. Nicola commented that she would be able to find good use for them and thanked all the members for their gifts to Safe and Sound.
We have also contributed to a project in Gambia where one of our members alongside her husband visited a school. They identified how they could help with the deprivation and poverty of the children. Initially they made a kitchen fit for purpose by purchasing sand and cement for them and completely tiled the kitchen, also purchased pots for them to cook with. With support from members they managed to furnish a class room with tables and chairs which they sourced locally to generate money for the people. To date we have helped Daphne and Kevin by contributing to classrooms and a clinic where pregnant women can attend.
